In May 2025 I became homeless. In July I went on welfare and had a room again. These pieces were written in the middle of that, on an iPhone, in a cheap apartment, mostly at night, because writing was the one thing that kept working when nothing else did.

By the time the book was finished, the nightmares had stopped.

Reading it back, I could see the recovery happening in the prose without my having noticed it. Chapter One is rough and angry — the raw force of survival. Chapter Two turns philosophical, because that autumn I started reading philosophy and kept checking my own life against it. Chapter Three is written by someone who has come out of a long tunnel.

I don’t have anything complicated to say in this book. The only thing I know for certain is very simple: life is worth living.
